Our LatAm Team’s Global Impact 

One of the strongest examples of our global collaboration in action is the growth and evolution of our presence in Latin America. Perficient LatAm began as a small collection of regional offices but, over the years, has grown into a unified, strategically aligned operation that plays an integral role in our global delivery model. With offices across Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile, the LatAm team has built a shared foundation of delivery and recruitment processes. This strategic alignment didn’t happen overnight. It was driven by intentional leadership, cross-regional transparency, and a commitment to working as a unified team. 

In the past two years, our leaders across LatAm have served as key points of contact to more closely align their operations with our U.S. business units. “We began investing in more leadership to act as single points of contact,” said David Arango Gaviria, director, Colombia Sales. “Assigning leaders to our practices helped put us on the map. We are now more exposed to customer and sales processes through these granular interactions.” 

One example of this collaboration in action is our LatAm team’s work to support a global leader in the manufacturing industry. While the work originally focused on custom development, our LatAm teams quickly evolved to establish a dedicated commerce practice from the ground up, recruiting, training, and cross-skilling talent to meet the dynamic needs of the client. 

“The willingness and openness that everyone showed to building bootcamps, facilitating education, and cross-training was a true example of collaboration,” said David. Our LatAm team has also played a pivotal role in expanding global delivery capacity for clients in industries such as food production and healthcare, supporting complex transitions, integrating seamlessly with our U.S. and India teams, and fostering new ways of working. 

Our LatAm team’s impact goes beyond client work. They’ve been key to internal innovation, especially in building accelerators that improve how we deliver. A great example is the Quality Assurance (QA) AI Assistant, which started as a local idea and quickly became a global effort. As the use of AI in Quality Assurance (QA) became integral, our LatAm team proposed a tool to automate tasks like generating user stories and test cases. Their concept brought in collaborators from the U.S. and India, turning it into a cross-regional project. In just two months, the team launched a working, enterprise-ready solution. This is a clear example of how global collaboration speeds up delivery and creates real value for clients.

Perficient India: Building Global Connections Through Local Innovation 

Perficient India continues to play a key role in strengthening global collaboration by creating spaces for knowledge sharing, innovation, and alignment with global teams. Events across our Bangalore, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai offices are helping connect colleagues across practices and geographies. 

At Perfathon 2025 in Bangalore, six teams worked through real-world challenges in a two-day hackathon designed to encourage cross-functional thinking. “Perfathon was more than just a hackathon—it was a vibrant space for collaboration, creativity, and learning,” said Gomathy Raveena Nair, lead technical consultant, Bangalore.

Recent visits from our U.S.-based Financial Services leaders have served as powerful practice-specific moments that continue to shape and strengthen global collaboration. I recently met with Kevin Sheen, Perficient’s Senior Vice President of global delivery, and Fayez Sweiss, former SMEDIX President and CEO and now Perficient General Manager, to learn more about the acquisition and what the future looks like.

Thank you for the time, Kevin and Fayez. I wanted to start by asking about the acquisition itself. Why SMEDIX, and why now?

Kevin: Thanks for having us, Connor. We’re excited to welcome the SMEDIX team to Perficient!

Healthcare and life sciences are two of the largest industry verticals Perficient serves, with a substantial roster of clients spanning providers, plans, pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies. These companies trust us to combine deep technical expertise and extensive global presence to enhance patient care. We’re committed to growing our global presence and delivery capabilities to ensure we have the right people in the right place at the right time to innovate digital solutions for our clients.

With the addition of SMEDIX, we’re strengthening both our industry software development capabilities and our global delivery capacity. We see great opportunity in SMEDIX and its ability to design and develop medtech software solutions.

Now that the acquisition has closed, I see SMEDIX fully integrating with the Perficient brand, bringing world-class software development solutions to our global healthcare and life sciences clients.

Fayez: I’ll add that because of our combined breadth and depth of expertise, I think we also have an opportunity to evolve and expand our offerings to our clients.

I’m also really excited for our colleagues. We’re joining a collaborative culture that is intently focused on accelerating innovation for its clients and understands the value of its people. There’s so much growth potential, and I can’t wait to see what we achieve together.

What is your role? Describe a typical day in the life. 

As a director, I work with our local and national teams on new pursuits that involve Latin America. I make connections between sellers and our operations team in Latin America to ensure the best outcome possible. This allows me to explore new engagements and foster collaboration to maintain a global Perficient approach. I also help with the integration of acquired companies in Latin America to make sure that knowledge is shared, and we become a cohesive team.

How do you explain your job to family, friends, or children? 

I explain it as if it’s a tornado; for example, there are a lot of moving parts, it’s very fast paced, and things are coming in from all directions that I have to be prepared for and aware of so I don’t get sucked in! It’s a very active role that requires a high level of focus. I interact with a lot of different stakeholders in a variety of contexts. 

How does your role support Perficient? How are you making an impact?

I am part of the team that is helping to build a unified global team and fostering a global Perficient approach. I do this by breaking down silos and making sure that our clients receive the best possible teams at the most efficient speed we can deliver.

What are your proudest accomplishments, personally and professionally? Any milestone moments at Perficient?

My proudest accomplishment at a professional level was being recognized by Perficient as an Excellence Award winner. It was a great way to be recognized for my hard work. Personally, one of my proudest accomplishments was buying my parents their dream apartment. Being able to give back to my family fills my heart! 

What has your experience at Perficient taught you?

It has taught me to be more resilient and to open my mind to new cultures. Most importantly, it has taught me to be humble and accept that my way of work is not necessarily the only way. I am surrounded by smart people, and I get to learn something new every single day.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Food! I enjoy tasting new flavors, going to new restaurants, and seeing the world through food. Every time I travel, I go for local flavors. I am also a fully trained chef. I went to culinary school before going to business school. 

What advice would you give to colleagues who are starting their career with Perficient?

Speak with as many people as you can because you will find broad knowledge everywhere. You can ask your colleagues for help, and you will find that they are willing and open to share their knowledge. You will become a better professional through collaboration, and teaching colleagues is what makes us stronger as a company.  

Why did you choose Perficient? What keeps you here?

I chose Perficient because I trust the mission, and I want to be part of the realization of that vision. I believe we can make the technology industry a better place.  

What keeps me here is that I can decide my own career path, and that path does not have to be static. I recently connected with Iyappan Rathina, a delivery director at Perficient, to discuss the benefits of global collaboration, and how that collaboration contributes to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) in healthcare. Iyappan, thanks so much for joining me today. I’d love to start with hearing more about your role. How do you enable a growth mindset on your teams?

Iyappan Rathina, Delivery Director

I am a delivery director at Perficient based in Chennai, India. As a delivery director, I govern projects and delivery. I am also the head of infrastructure and facilities for the India global delivery center, managing seven centers across five different locations.

As a delivery director, I help my teams foster the culture of Perficient. Because of our shared culture, my teams exceed our clients’ expectations and are able to grow with Perficient. I enable my teams to achieve this growth by:

• Facilitating collaboration across multiple geographies, ensuring that everyone gets the support they need
• Exposing them to opportunities as they arise
• Preparing them for their next role

As the head of infrastructure, I am responsible for ensuring that our colleagues experience world-class facilities that are positioned to delight our clients.

Laura Catalina Navarro Rodriguez, an account manager at Perficient, facilitates a culture of collaboration and strong communication across global teams. I enjoyed hearing about how she has seen projects support accessibility in healthcare, and I’m sure you will too!

Thank you so much for joining me today, Laura! I’d love to kick off with hearing more about your role. How does your work impact Perficient’s culture, growth, and clients? 

Laura Catalina Navarro Rodriguez, Account Manager

I define my role as being the “synapse between neurons” to facilitate and promote communication between Perficient teams and clients to strengthen our position as a global company. The objective of my role is to collaborate, build, and maintain a robust relationship with each partner, client, and account stakeholder, ensuring multiple points of contact and staying especially attuned to individual and business needs. I work closely with partners, clients, and stakeholders to:  

• Clearly define business needs 
• Create winning and innovative strategies 
• Coordinate with global operations and capacity teams to ensure maximum business value for our clients  
• Support our LatAm teams in their efforts to deliver the highest quality services 

 How is Perficient – as a global team – driving excellence for our clients?  

Perficient’s main excellence-driving factor is our people. We have strong technical talent, with senior level roles represented in all of our global delivery centers.   

Most importantly, our people are accountable, vocal, caring, and driven to deliver high-quality solutions and exceed client expectations.  

We have a strong unity mindset. We are part of a global team, and despite our differences in location, culture, beliefs, collaboration styles, and in some cases language (or slang), we belong to the same united team – global delivery. We are a fully diverse team working for the same purpose: to deliver excellence.  

We drive excellence by ensuring that we involve the right experts at the right time. We all have the same opportunities to participate, propose, challenge, and explore. Being respectful of differences and utilizing each person’s unique skills to their fullest potential gives us the ability to implement the best solutions successfully.  

Why is it valuable for organizations to promote diversity through global teams, and within global teams? 

Diversity is a part of the human experience.  While working with a diverse group of people, we cannot take a “one-size-fits-all” approach. This is why our people are the most important factor in delivering excellence. If we ignore our differences (language, culture, time zone, motivation, and ability), the spark in our highly motivated team will fade.  

Working with teams across the globe, we can utilize strengths from every team. When working on a proposal, in most cases, the best recipe for success involves utilizing a blended team. For example, a blended team may be the best option when a client needs a specific skill set best represented in one part of the world, but also must meet a formal requirement, such as having a team in their time zone. Within blended teams, the key to success is communication. The team must have strong communication to stay aligned on delivery needs.  

In LatAm we have a saying that goes “two heads think more than one.” Understanding that we all think differently helps us communicate successfully while working in a diverse team. All ideas should be listened to and considered. The LatAm delivery center is now a compound of five different countries, each country with several offices. There is a whole lot of variety in ways of thinking and skillsets, and there is a lot of potential. So, promoting a culture of openness, unity, and strong communication helps us feel included and work together equitably.  

Digital transformations can either help healthcare organizations achieve greater equity or inadvertently exacerbate it, so it’s important that we approach our healthcare work through an equity lens. How are you seeing Perficient’s collaboration across the globe help deliver projects through this lens? 

As end-to-end partners to our healthcare clients, it is important that we:   

• Foster collaboration and inclusion with our global delivery centers, with the common goal of achieving excellence for our clients 
• Utilize blended teams, giving everyone the opportunity to participate in the construction of solutions 
• Fully understand and address the client’s needs 

Healthcare organizations in the US are increasingly focused on equity in healthcare. Our work can create a huge impact to society, especially in the healthcare industry. Utilizing virtual health and other technologies, we are seeking to make the most effective tools available at the right time and place and with appropriate support for every patient to improve access to care. 

Through a partnership with one of the top digital health cloud platforms for Software as a Medical Device in the US, we’ve collaborated to improve the patient experience by enabling healthcare and life sciences organizations to better understand and address consumers’ needs.

See Success in Action: Improving one of the largest health providers in Colombia’s digital experience 

Here’s an example of a project we delivered through an equity lens. Our payer client partnered with us to improve their digital platforms.

The Colombian healthcare system is divided into two types of payers:

• subsidized, insures people with lower income
• contributory, insures the people that can afford a monthly payment

We helped this client ease the process for enrollment, login, change logs, and information updates, reducing the amount of time invested from the payer and the paperwork needed. This resulted in higher coverage of people accessing the healthcare system. It also provided more efficient service for people already covered by subsidized or contributory payers. We also added the ability to enroll over the phone, expanding accessibility to people without internet access.

Based in Schaumburg, Illinois, and with offshore development center operations in Chennai, India, Ameex provides award-winning agile software development expertise, and has extensive capabilities across commerce and content solution offerings. The firm brings more than 20 years of digital consulting and delivery experience including CX consulting, experience design, data and analytics, automation, and digital technology engineering and development services. The news of the acquisition of Ameex comes on the heels of our acquisition last month of Inflection Point Systems in Mexico, where we welcomed more than 200 talented colleagues to our team. With Inflection Point we grew our Latin America presence to 1,700 world-class, bilingual developers and engineers who provide the highest quality agile development services in the nearshore region with access to convenient time zone alignment, and cultural affinity to the US market.

In addition to our growth in Latin America, we also recently expanded our presence in India. Earlier this year, we announced new India locations in Hyderabad and Pune, and additional offices in Chennai and Bangalore, and are growing the current Nagpur location. These new and existing locations support our colleagues, accommodate ongoing growth, and meet client demand.
