We are proud to share that Perficient has been recognized among notable providers in The Commerce Services Landscape, Q3 2025, Forrester’s authoritative overview of 40 global providers authored by Principal Analyst Chuck Gahun. We believe this recognition highlights Perficient’s role as a systems integrator driving innovation across the commerce ecosystem.

Why This Recognition Matters

We believe Forrester’s inclusion reflects more than market presence. To us, it signals our strategic alignment with the future of enterprise commerce. As organizations shift from legacy platforms to intelligent AI-first ecosystems, Perficient is helping clients reimagine how value is created, sustained, and scaled.

Forrester asked each provider included in the Landscape to select the top business scenarios for which clients select them and from there determined which are the extended business scenarios that highlight differentiation among the providers. Perficient is shown in the report for having selected B2B2B commerce, B2B2C commerce, and Extended Reality and Augmented Reality Commerce as the top reasons clients work with us out of those extended use cases. Notably, Perficient was only one of three providers included in the Landscape to have selected Extended Reality and Augmented Reality Commerce. We believe this is a differentiator for us.

We were also listed with a focus on three industries:

What This Means for Perficient and Our Clients

Several themes have emerged from within the commerce landscape that Perficient is poised to take by storm, especially as it relates to taking an AI-first approach to client’s challenges and goals.

AI-First Differentiation: There is a need for providers to move beyond buzzwords and clearly define what AI-first means. Perficient’s focus on operationalizing AI through proprietary intellectual property and composable architectures positions us to lead this shift.

Vertical-Specific Solutions: It is important to tailor AI offerings by industry. Our deep expertise and work across several industry verticals, notably commerce work for manufacturing and retail clients, reflects this strategic direction with solutions that drive real outcomes in product discovery, engagement, and experience.

A New Lens on Customer Journeys: Intelligent commerce is transforming the customer experience from AI-integrated search to immersive product journeys, and Perficient is building the infrastructure for what comes next.

Outcome-Based Engagements: As clients demand measurable impact, our ability to structure engagements around business outcomes powered by AI-driven insights sets us apart.

Embrace the New Era of AI-First Commerce

We believe Perficient’s inclusion in the Forrester landscape is more than recognition. For us, it is a signal to enterprise leaders that we are ready to help them transform legacy systems into intelligent platforms, activate AI across the full commerce lifecycle, and deliver personalized immersive experiences that drive growth.

Whether you are navigating B2B complexity, scaling retail innovation, or exploring extended reality commerce, Perficient is the partner to help you lead with confidence.

Perficient Interviewed for Forrester Report on Developer Experience and Knowledge Management https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/07/14/perficient-interviewed-for-forrester-report-on-dx-and-knowledge-management/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/07/14/perficient-interviewed-for-forrester-report-on-dx-and-knowledge-management/#comments Mon, 14 Jul 2025 13:34:34 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=384444

When we talk about developer experience, we often leap straight to the exciting stuff like cutting-edge platforms, AI tools, and lightning-fast frameworks. But according to Forrester’s June 2025 report, “Knowledge Management and The Developer Experience,” “In software development, effective knowledge management (KM) is crucial for developers.” An organization’s knowledge management practices determine how well teams capture, share, and retain what they know.

We’re proud to share that several of our experts were interviewed for this Forrester research. Judah Tice, Grant Davies, and Jeff Small contributed insights on the connection between knowledge management (KM) and the developer experience (DX). We’re excited to share some compelling insights from the report and reflect on why this topic is resonating so strongly across our work with enterprise clients.

Blog Stat

Why Knowledge Management Can Make or Break Developer Experience

According to the Forrester report, “Organizations that efficiently capture, organize, and share knowledge gain a competitive edge by fostering continuous learning and improvement.” And yet, many organizations are still struggling with the basics: developers can’t find documentation, duplicate work is common due to poor onboarding, and critical knowledge is lost when employees leave.

One stat according to recent data from Statista that stood out to us: “36.9% of developers are not even slightly satisfied with their work.”

That’s not just a morale problem; it’s a business risk.

Inside the Interview: Perficient’s Perspective

Judah Tice, director of product development consulting at Perficient, shared this reflection after contributing to the report:

“You can’t improve developer experience in isolation. It has to be part of a broader system. If developers don’t know where to look, don’t feel heard, or don’t trust the docs, it doesn’t matter how advanced your tools are. Knowledge is the glue that holds it all together.” —Judah Tice, Practice Director, Product Development, Perficient

Tice’s take echoes a broader trend in the research: organizations are starting to treat DX as an enterprise capability, not just a developer concern. That means investing in culture, documentation, and knowledge-sharing practices with the same weight as you’d treat your architecture or tooling decisions.

What This Means for Your Organization

Whether you’re onboarding new devs, trying to avoid “reinventing the wheel,” or looking to preserve institutional knowledge before your tenured engineers retire, investing in a robust KM strategy pays dividends. It creates continuity, improves speed, and, most importantly, helps your developers feel supported and empowered to do their best work.

Forrester’s full report outlines best practices, technical recommendations, and strategic frameworks for building a strong knowledge management foundation within engineering teams. If you’re responsible for developer experience at your organization, it’s worth a read.

Shaping The Future of Connected Product Innovation   https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/05/12/shaping-the-future-of-connected-product-innovation-2/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/05/12/shaping-the-future-of-connected-product-innovation-2/#respond Mon, 12 May 2025 17:12:47 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=381293

We are thrilled to announce that Perficient has been recognized in Forrester’s recent report, “The Connected Product Engineering Services Landscape, Q2 2025.” Forrester defines connected product engineering services providers as:

“Firms that conceive, design, develop, launch, and scale new connected (or embodied) products that combine a physical product with digital applications to directly deliver new revenue for their clients.”

We believe this acknowledgment highlights our commitment to driving innovation and delivering exceptional value to our clients through connected product engineering services.

Access The Connected Product Engineering Services Landscape, Q2 2025 to find out more.

Driving Connected Product Innovation Across Key Industries

Whether it’s enabling a shift to product-as-a-service models, managing the ongoing support and monetization of field-deployed connected products, or improving workforce productivity through modern workplace technologies, we believe our strategic and management consulting expertise empowers organizations to navigate complexity and deliver meaningful outcomes. Notably, we’ve achieved success for clients in pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, manufacturing, and utilities industries when it comes to connected product innovation. Our clients rely on us not only for engineering and implementation, but also for the high-value strategic work that drives connected product success.

What Are Connected Product Engineering Services?

From Perficient’s perspective, Connected Product Engineering Services are a comprehensive suite of offerings designed to create products that blend physical components with digital applications. These services cover the entire life cycle of product development, including:

Conception: Ideating new connected products that meet market needs and client requirements.

Design: Crafting designs that integrate both physical and digital elements to ensure seamless functionality and user experience.

Development: Building and programming the product, including hardware and software integration.

Launch: Bringing the product to market, including strategies for deployment and initial user adoption.

Scaling: Expanding the product’s reach and capabilities to grow user bases and evolving market demands.

The goal of connected product engineering services is to deliver products that not only function effectively but also generate new revenue streams for clients by leveraging the synergy between physical and digital technologies. Perficient’s expertise in this area runs deep and provides clients with improved data strategy, monetization, and user interfaces that ultimately instill customer trust and loyalty.

Common Disrupters and Challenges

With the results from Perficient’s own research, we have found that as the connected product landscape evolves, so do the challenges and disruptions organizations must navigate. One disruptor we’re seeing in the marketplace is the growing customer expectation for seamless interoperability between connected products. Namely, 50% of commercial users responded that their connected products integrated only “somewhat well” with their existing systems and infrastructure.

Buyers are increasingly making purchasing decisions based on how well new products integrate with their existing connected ecosystems. This shift is creating a strong push for increased collaboration and partnerships between OEMs to enable cross-product connectivity, such as linking garage door openers with vehicles or syncing household appliances with mobile devices.

Another challenge is overcoming negative customer sentiment toward connected features. Some consumers view these features as unnecessary luxuries or express concerns about privacy and data security. Only 19% of consumers feel aware of data collection practices. In industrial settings like manufacturing and supply chain, connected products are sometimes perceived as intrusive or overly surveillance-focused.

Additionally, there’s often a gap in user education. Many OEMs struggle to implement the right structures for ongoing support and training, making it difficult for customers to fully understand and leverage all available product features. Addressing these concerns through thoughtful design, transparent data practices, and strong customer enablement programs is essential for long-term success in the connected product space.

Perficient’s Approach to Connected Product Engineering

At Perficient, we take a comprehensive, end-to-end approach to connected product delivery, combining strategy, engineering, prototyping, and testing to bring innovative ideas to life. Especially when it comes to connected products, we understand that it starts with a strong data foundation. That’s why we prioritize helping clients define a robust data strategy from the start.

When the foundation is solid, identifying how to utilize that data and create new revenue streams is the next step. Subscription models are becoming a key driver of connected product monetization, and we guide clients in building scalable ecosystems that support recurring revenue. Additionally, we recognize that customer experience is a critical differentiator, often enabled through companion apps that provide seamless access to product features and functionality. These strategic considerations—data, subscriptions, and experience—are essential components of a successful connected product strategy, and they remain central to how Perficient delivers value to our clients.

Real and actionable insights drive our strategy. We’ve based our approach for connected product manufacturers on our own research – a study on the sentiments of consumers, commercial users, and manufacturers of connected products – which you can explore here.

Perficient Experts Interviewed for Forrester Report: The Future of Commerce (US) https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/05/01/perficient-experts-interviewed-for-forrester-report-the-future-of-commerce-us/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/05/01/perficient-experts-interviewed-for-forrester-report-the-future-of-commerce-us/#respond Thu, 01 May 2025 13:35:58 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=380785

Perficient continues to be recognized in the industry as a leader in commerce strategy and implementation, achieving awards from partners and industry organizations as well as inclusions in key analyst reports. Our experts’ insights on distributed and dynamic commerce strategies, including distributed channels such as social media, influencer content, shoppable media, and GenAI as a catalyst for dynamic interactions, have been fueling conversations both with our clients and on the show floor of major industry tradeshows.

Most recently, Perficient was interviewed by Forrester for insights into the landscape of commerce in the United States. We believe our inclusion in The Future of Commerce (US), Distributed And Dynamic Commerce Strategies Pave The Way To Intelligent Commerce by Chuck Gahun reflects Perficient’s commitment to innovation within an ever-changing commerce landscape, as well as our ability to construct high-impact solutions that evolve as AI becomes more prevalent in commerce strategies.

Our Key Takeaways: Consumers Demand Smarter Commerce

While much has changed since the inception of ecommerce, some core truths still stand the test of time. Consumer confidence remains a crucial factor throughout the shift from in-store to online shopping. Brand value significantly contributes to consumer confidence and has grown in importance, especially regarding customer lifetime value and affinity. To keep pace with changes, there is an increased demand for AI and intelligent commerce.

Intelligent commerce is defined in two ways:

  1. Commerce that will inherently evolve from assisted and anticipatory to agentic.
  2. Consumer emotion is included as part of the equation.

Intelligent commerce interactions of this type will find ways for agentic models to understand emotion, sentiment, and dialect to make recommendations, truly bringing immersive shopping to life in a channel-less fashion.

“The shift to agentic commerce will introduce emotional elements at every interaction with consumers, thus deepening their connection to these brands,” says Justin Racine, Principal, Commerce Strategy.

Companies are finding ways to incorporate AI into experiences throughout the customer journey. We’re beginning to see what’s now known as “phygital,” a blending of traditional screens for shopping and their incorporation into daily life.

Omnichannel for Overall Better Commerce

Omnichannel initiatives can be costly and time-consuming. At Perficient, we’ve helped many clients navigate this complex maze by creating seamless omnichannel experiences, from sentiment analysis to contact center and chatbot creation and training.  However, the Forrester report states, “Only 21% of B2C business and technology professionals report their organization is prioritizing efforts to improve omnichannel initiatives, but consumer expectations for omnichannel experiences are higher than ever — across all consumer cohorts.” This dissonance between prioritization and consumer expectation will lead to major needs for increased commerce innovations in the future, especially if customer experience is to be at the forefront to nurture lasting relationships with audiences at every touchpoint.

Brands are looking for ways to connect more with customers and create experiences that resonate across channels, depending on where customers are in the process. With hyper-personalization and AI, customer data points around behavior can be synthesized through AI to create experiences that resonate with those customers.

Explore how to leverage customer data and utilize generative AI to help guide your omnichannel solutions.

How Innovative Healthcare Organizations Integrate Clinical Intelligence https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/04/28/how-innovative-healthcare-organizations-integrate-clinical-intelligence/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/04/28/how-innovative-healthcare-organizations-integrate-clinical-intelligence/#respond Mon, 28 Apr 2025 15:29:30 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=380660

Healthcare organizations (HCOs) face mounting pressure to boost operational efficiency, improve health and wellness, and enhance experiences. To drive these outcomes, leaders are aligning enterprise and business goals with digital investments that intelligently automate processes and optimize the health journey.

Clinical intelligence plays a pivotal role in this transformation. It unlocks advanced data-driven insights that enable intelligent healthcare organizations to drive health innovation and elevate impactful health experiences. This approach aligns with the healthcare industry’s quintuple aim to enhance health outcomes, reduce costs, improve patient/member experiences, advance health equity, and improve the work life of healthcare teams.

Intelligent Healthcare Organizations: Driven By Clinical Intelligence

Our industry experts were recently interviewed by Forrester for their April 2025 report, Clinical Intelligence Will Power The Intelligent Healthcare Organization, which explores ways healthcare and business leaders can transform workflows to propel the enterprise toward next-gen operations and experiences.

We believe the fact that we were interviewed for this report highlights our commitment to optimize technology, interoperability, and digital experiences in ways that build consumer trust, drive innovation, and support more-personalized care.

We combine strategy, industry best practices, and technology expertise to deliver award-winning results for leading health plans and providers:

  • Business Transformation: Activate strategy for transformative outcomes and health experiences.
  • Modernization: Maximize technology to drive health innovation, efficiency, and interoperability.
  • Data Analytics: Power enterprise agility and accelerate healthcare insights.
  • Consumer Experience: Connect, ease, and elevate impactful health journeys.

Understand and Deliver On Consumer Needs and Expectations

Every individual brings with them an ever-changing set of needs, preferences, and health conditions. Now more than ever, consumers are flat out demanding a more tailored approach to their health care. This means it is imperative to know your audience. If you do not approach people as individuals with unique, personal needs, you risk losing them to another organization that does.

Becoming an intelligent healthcare organization (IHO) takes more than just a technology investment; it is a complete restructuring of the enterprise to infuse and securely utilize clinical intelligence in every area and interaction.

In its report, Forrester defines an IHO as, “A healthcare organization that perpetually captures, transforms, and delivers data at scale and creates and seamlessly disseminates clinical intelligence, maximizing clinical workflows and operations and the experience of employees and customers. IHOs operate in one connected system that empowers engagement among all stakeholders.”

Ultimately, consumers – as a patient receiving care, a member engaging in their plan’s coverage, or a caregiver supporting this process – want to make and support informed health care decisions that cost-effectively drive better health outcomes. IHOs focus on delivering high-quality, personalized insights and support to the business, care teams, and consumers when it matters most and in ways that are accessible and actionable.

Orchestrate Better Health Access

Digital-first care stands at the forefront of transformation, providing more options than ever before as individuals search for and choose care. When digital experiences are orchestrated with consumers’ expectations and options in mind, care solutions like telehealth services, find-care experiences, and mobile health apps can help HCOs deliver the right care at the right time, through the right channel, and with guidance that eases complex decisions, supports proactive health, and activates conversions.

The shift toward digital-first care solutions means it is even more crucial for HCOs to understand real-time consumer expectations to help shape business priorities and form empathetic, personalized experiences that build trust and loyalty.

In its report, Forrester states, “And as consumer trust has taken a hit over the past three years, it is encouraging that 72% of healthcare business and technology professionals expect their organization to increase its investment in customer management technologies.”

Clinical intelligence, leveraged well, can transform the ways that consumers interact and engage across the healthcare ecosystem. IHOs see clinical intelligence as a way to innovate beyond mandated goals to add business value, meet consumers’ evolving expectations, and deliver equitable care and services.

Interoperability plays a crucial role in this process, as it enables more seamless, integrated experiences across all digital platforms and systems. This interconnectedness ensures that consumers receive consistent, coordinated care, regardless of where they are seeking treatment and are supported by informed business and clinical teams.

Mandates such as Health Level 7 (HL7) standards, Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR), and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Interoperability and Patient Access Final Rule are creating a more connected and data-driven healthcare ecosystem. Additionally, CMS price transparency regulations are empowering consumers to become more informed, active, and engaged patients. Price transparency and cost estimator tools have the potential to give organizations a competitive edge and drive brand loyalty by providing a transparent, proactive, personalized, and timely experience.

The most successful organizations will build a proper foundation that scales and supports successive mandates. Composable architecture offers a powerful, flexible approach that balances “best in breed,” fit-for-purpose solutions while bypassing unneeded, costly features or services. It’s vital to build trust in data and with consumers, paving the way for ubiquitous, fact-based decision making that supports health and enables relationships across the care continuum.

Success In Action: Empowering Healthcare Consumers and Their Care Ecosystems With Interoperable Data

Enable Caregivers and Care Teams

As the population ages, caregivers play an increasingly important role in the healthcare journey, and their experience is distinct. They may continually move in and out of the caregiver role. It’s essential to understand and engage these vital partners, providing them with important tools and resources to support quality care.

Clinical intelligence can provide HCOs with advanced insights into the needs of caregivers and care teams, helping clinical, operational, IT, digital, and marketing leaders design systems that support the health and efficacy of these important care providers.

Integrated telehealth and remote monitoring have become essential to managing chronic conditions and an aging population. Intuitive, integrated digital tools and personalized messaging can help mitigate potential health barriers by proactively addressing concerns around transportation, costs, medication adherence, appointment scheduling, and more.

A well-planned, well-executed strategy ideally supports access to care for all, creating a healthier and more-welcoming environment for team members to build trust, elevate consumer satisfaction, and drive higher-quality care.

Success In Action: A Digital Approach to Addressing Health Equity

Improve Operational Efficiencies for Care Teams

HCO leaders are investing in advanced technologies and automations to modernize operations, streamline experiences, and unlock reliable insights.

Clinical intelligence paired with intelligent automations can accelerate patient and member care for clinical and customer care teams, helping to alleviate stress on a workforce burdened with high rates of burnout.

In its report, Forrester shares, “In Forrester’s Priorities Survey, 2024, 65% or more of healthcare business and technology professionals said that they expect their organization to significantly increase its investments in business insights and analytics, data and information management, AI, and business automation and robotics in the next 12 months.”

It’s clear the U.S. healthcare industry stands on the cusp of a transformative era powered by advanced analytics and holistic business transformation. AI-driven automations can reduce administrative costs, while AI-enabled treatment plans offer hyper-personalized precision medicine. As technology continues to shape healthcare experiences, Felix Bradbury, Perficient senior solutions architect, shares his thoughts on the topic:

“Trust is crucial in healthcare. Understanding how to make AI algorithms interpretable and ensuring they can provide transparent explanations of their decisions will be key to fostering trust among clinicians and patients.”

AI can be a powerful enabler of business priorities. To power and scale effective use cases, HCOs are investing in core building blocks: a modern and secure infrastructure, well-governed data, and team training and enablement. A well-formed strategy that aligns key business needs with people, technology, and processes can turn data into a powerful tool that accelerates operational efficiency and business success, positioning you as an intelligent healthcare organization.

Perficient’s Inclusion in Forrester’s Recent Report

Jonathan Quote

Perficient is proud to announce that two of our experts, Jonathan Crockett and Elisha Goldman, were quoted in Forrester’s report, sharing their expertise on how organizations can rethink their approach to measuring and improving developer productivity. The report challenges traditional productivity metrics and emphasizes creating environments that encourage innovation and meaningful alignment with business objectives.

Jonathan Crockett, managing director of product development at Perficient, highlights the importance of a problem-solving mindset and its role in driving innovation. He stated, “We’re not order takers; we’re problem solvers, and we’re going to seek out how to solve those underlying problems. And that’s really the mindset that drives our teams forward with confidence and purpose.”

Elisha Quote

Elisha Goldman, delivery and product director at Perficient, focused on how understanding and leveraging metrics can drive success for clients. In the report, she shared, “At Perficient, folks are responsible for understanding what metrics are there, what their clients are looking for, and trying to figure out a way that they can (improve). How can we use that to think about longer-term roadmaps and visions?”

Addressing Developer Productivity in the Age of GenAI

The rise of Generative AI tools has sparked a renewed focus on developer productivity. While these tools hold immense potential, the report emphasizes the risks of relying on flawed or superficial metrics. As Jonathan and Elisha’s quotes suggest, the key to unlocking true innovation lies in aligning teams around meaningful goals and providing developers with the autonomy and clarity to solve real-world problems.

Organizations must look beyond surface-level measures and adopt strategies that prioritize collaboration, creativity, and long-term value. By doing so, they can enable their engineering teams to deliver impactful results that resonate with both business leaders and end users.

Perficient Included In Forrester’s Modern Application Development Services Landscape, Q3 2024 https://blogs.perficient.com/2024/08/02/perficient-included-in-forresters-modern-application-development-services-landscape-q3-2024/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2024/08/02/perficient-included-in-forresters-modern-application-development-services-landscape-q3-2024/#respond Fri, 02 Aug 2024 16:50:43 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=366783

Imagine a world where your business can effortlessly keep pace with technological advancements and continuously changing customer expectations. The ability to swiftly develop new technology products and applications is crucial to staying competitive. However, relying solely on in-house development capabilities is not always feasible for many organizations.

Forrester released its Modern Application Development Services Landscape, Q3 2024 report to help businesses understand the value they can expect from modern application development (MAD) service providers and explore potential partners.

Modern Application Development Services

Forrester defines MAD service providers as:

“Service providers that work collaboratively with their clients to cocreate custom modern applications and, in parallel, assist them in the transformation and modernization of their software development capabilities and organization.”

In Forrester’s Priorities Survey, 2024, “64% of business and technology professionals said that bringing more development in-house would be a high or critical priority for their IT organization over the next 12 months.”

According to the report, “tech execs and application development leaders implement MAD services to:

  • Increase cocreation. … MAD services can cocreate with clients while supporting them in learning how to modernize capabilities with agile, DevOps, native cloud, and edge, including generative AI (genAI).
  • Improve customer experience. The goal isn’t to insource 100% of all application development work, but to improve internal capabilities and be efficient partners with MAD service providers.
  • Focus on business outcomes, not just outputs. The shift to assessing modern development by measuring benefit realization and business value is a reality.”

Perficient’s Recognition and Focus Areas

We believe Perficient has been recognized for our ability to deliver on these promises, helping clients navigate the complexities of modern application development and achieve tangible business results. Perficient self-reported the following extended use cases as the top three for which clients select them:

  • Backend Integration and Modernization: We specialize in integrating and modernizing backend systems to ensure seamless and efficient operations, enabling businesses to stay competitive in the digital age.
  • GenAI to Increase Employee Productivity: We leverage genAI technologies to help clients boost employee productivity by automating routine tasks and enhancing decision-making processes.
  • Product Operating Model: We focus on developing robust product operating models that align with our clients’ business objectives, ensuring sustainable growth and innovation.

Perficient’s Expertise and Industry Focus

Forrester based its analysis of service providers on two factors: market presence and services functionality. They segmented vendors into three categories based on MAD services revenue: large, midsize, and small; and five categories based on services functionality and global reach.

Perficient was listed as a large provider in this space with $250 million or more in annual MAD services revenue. Perficient’s listing as a consultancy in this Landscape report includes our geographic presence (North America, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific) and industry focus areas (healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing/production of consumer products).

We are proud of this achievement and remain committed to leveraging our expertise in modern application development to help our clients succeed. For more information on how Perficient can help your business with custom application development and digital transformation, contact us today.

Perficient Interviewed by Forrester: Steps to Develop A Manufacturing Operations Management Vision https://blogs.perficient.com/2024/07/19/perficient-interviewed-for-forrester-report-on-manufacturing-operations-management-vision/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2024/07/19/perficient-interviewed-for-forrester-report-on-manufacturing-operations-management-vision/#respond Fri, 19 Jul 2024 13:37:56 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=366106

Customers are demanding a personalized experience, and manufacturing is no different. One-size-fits-all manufacturing is now becoming a thing of the past. Today, we are seeing a decline in the mass production of identical products in exchange for personalization and niche products. As consumers intensify their expectations for on-demand personalization and delivery within days of purchase, marketplaces that offer wide ranges of options without sacrificing price or availability, like Amazon, have been capitalizing on this shift in customer behavior.

To achieve low costs while offering high availability and personalized products, manufacturers must alter their operations to be flexible, focusing on creating a wider range of products that share common underlying components or production processes. Perficient is committed to advising manufacturers as they face these new challenges outlined in Forrester’s recent report, “Key Steps to Develop Your Manufacturing Operations Management Vision.”

Our Manufacturing Operations Management Capabilities

Forrester interviewed several service providers and manufacturers to gain a holistic understanding of the current state of manufacturing operations management (MOM). The report outlines the importance of achieving variety while maintaining low cost and high availability to thrive in this new landscape. Ultimately, Forrester concluded that exploiting economies of scope – where the unit price of a product decreases as the variety increases – is the solution.

According to Forrester, “To thrive in fragmented and restless markets, manufacturers must compete on economies of scope, sharing fixed costs between multiple product or asset variants to deliver the innovation, choice, and personalization that will win, serve, and retain customers.” Further, Forrester stated, “… to compete with innovation, manufacturers must modernize their supply chain and manufacturing operations to manage — at scale and velocity — the digital thread that links design, manufacture, and the ongoing operation and maintenance of assets… and boost manufacturing execution system (MES) interoperability with enterprise resource planning (ERP) scheduling solutions…”

We believe Perficient is uniquely poised as an end-to-end digital consultancy with deep industry expertise to partner with manufacturing brands embarking on this journey. Our established practices, from supply chain to commerce, offer a customized strategy that meets the organization in its current state and execution that secures long-term success. Our supply chain experts routinely help organizations in sales and operations planning, strategic sourcing and spend control, procure to pay, inventory and materials management, operations continuation, risk management, end-to-end supply chain visibility, and more.

Finally, our partnerships with the other technology providers listed in Forrester’s report, such as Oracle and SAP, further equip us with the expertise needed to help brands navigate their modernization.

Perficient’s Manufacturing Industry Expertise

Forrester interviewed leaders from Perficient’s manufacturing and supply chain teams while researching this report. Kevin Espinosa, manufacturing industry lead at Perficient, remarked:

“We believe our participation as a company interviewed for the report on Manufacturing Operations Management is a testament to how critical our industry expertise is for manufacturing companies working to transform their operations and meet their customers needs.”

Perficient is excited to continue to share thought leadership and perspective on emerging trends in manufacturing operations management. Two Perficient Colleagues Quoted in Forrester Report on Emerging Insurance Technologies https://blogs.perficient.com/2024/04/03/two-perficient-colleagues-quoted-in-forrester-report-on-emerging-insurance-technologies/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2024/04/03/two-perficient-colleagues-quoted-in-forrester-report-on-emerging-insurance-technologies/#respond Wed, 03 Apr 2024 16:01:20 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=361164

Insurers are constantly striving to improve their operations, provide better experiences for customers, and minimize risks. Perficient insurance experts were interviewed for Forrester’s report, “The Top Emerging Technologies In Insurance, 2024,” and discussed technologies expected to emerge in the insurance industry over the next five years, considering them now, and in the short-term, medium-term, and long-term future.

Perficient’s Inclusion in Forrester’s Recent Report

Perficient, specializing in digital transformations, proudly acknowledges the thought leadership of Brian Bell and Monica Gernert quoted in Forrester’s report, “The Top Emerging Technologies In Insurance, 2024.” The report explores the potential of innovative technologies with “…particular emphasis on generative AI (Artificial Intelligence), as it not only delivers benefits now but also underpins technologies such as autonomous workplace assistants, embedded AI, and edge intelligence.”

Monica Gernert, a project manager, and insurance expert at Perficient, provided a critical perspective around genAI that’s quoted in the report. She underlines the necessity for insurers to establish a solid foundation comprising document digitization and a robust data fabric to ensure success with these technologies stating, “GenAI outcomes will only be as good as the data.”

Brian Bell, Perficient’s Insurance Principal, who was also quoted in the report, highlights the significance of another emerging technology: critical event intelligence. According to Forrester, critical event intelligence is defined as an “Intelligence that uses real-time data from sources such as social media, blogs, news feeds, online forums, IP addresses, latitude and longitude, and device GPS to assess potential threats from location-specific events, especially for physical risk.” Brian’s quote emphasizes the potential of critical event intelligence within the industry, stating, “This is where the rubber hits the road. This kind of intelligence proves the noble purpose of insurance.”

Addressing AI Bias in Insurance

While emerging technologies such as AI have undoubtedly brought numerous advancements to the insurance industry, it is essential to acknowledge that their broader adoption may also bring challenges, as highlighted by Forrester: “Bias, hallucinations, privacy, and security.” And, while AI itself doesn’t inherently produce bias, models trained on biased data can exacerbate certain prejudices in decision-making processes.

Traditional life insurance underwriting, typically relying on factors like age, gender, zip code, smoking status, and marital status, has already contributed to narrow risk definitions for insurers. Going forward, addressing bias at its root in data collection and promoting inclusive practices are imperative for ensuring equitable outcomes in the insurance sector.

Success in leveraging these technologies hinges on addressing current data gaps, establishing robust infrastructure, and fostering a culture of inclusion and education within the industry.
