With more than 7,000 colleagues spanning technologies and time zones, Perficient constantly pursues progress centered around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). The feedback our colleagues share through Perficient’s annual Employee Engagement Survey provides insight into the colleague experience that helps us continue to build an award-winning culture where everyone can thrive. Perficient partners with Perceptyx, an independent analytics firm, to facilitate the survey and ensure actionable, transparent insights.

Each year, Perceptyx hosts the EX Impact Awards to honor organizations that leverage its platform to uncover critical insights, take meaningful action, and elevate the colleague experience. We’re thrilled to announce that Perficient was recently recognized with a 2025 EX Impact Award in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) category.

Our recognition underscores Perficient’s success in transforming feedback into impactful initiatives that resonate across its global workforce, and our dedication to fostering a workplace where every colleague feels heard, valued, and supported.

To celebrate this incredible achievement, Perceptyx hosted a virtual panel discussion on Tuesday, April 15, featuring representatives from global companies who received a 2025 EX Impact Award. Our colleague, Felipe Garzon Correa, talent development specialist, Colombia, participated as a panel member, sharing how Perficient uncovered key insights and accelerated growth for our colleagues through our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).

“Our ERGs reflect the incredible sense of belonging of our global Perficient family, but at their core, it’s all about our people, people who are making a difference in their communities and across borders every day,” said Felipe Garzon Correa, Talent Development Specialist, Colombia. “Together, we’re not just a company; we’re a worldwide network united by impact, driven by outcomes, and committed to shaping a brighter future for everyone.”

Empowering Colleague Growth and Development Through Perficient’s ERGs

Progress begins with commitment, and Perficient is dedicated to promoting women in technology, partnering with diverse suppliers, celebrating multicultural learning, paying it forward to global communities, and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy. Multicultural competency and understanding are critical to Perficient’s mission to shatter boundaries and forge a bright future where all voices are heard.

With colleagues located around the world, our people bring knowledgeable insights and dynamic mindsets to the table. We channel these strengths through our five ERGs, which foster a positive workplace culture, create opportunities for networking and connection, and enable mentorship and career development. Perficient taps into essential feedback from annual engagement surveys and ERGs to hear new ideas, understand diverse perspectives, and amplify key stories that drive engagement.

Through our ERGs, colleagues can build meaningful relationships with others who have similar interests, such as social responsibility, health and well-being, environmental sustainability, and raising awareness for meaningful causes. These inclusive and collaborative communities offer a platform for professional development that celebrates individual voices and drives impactful initiatives.

Building Community and Networking: Perficient’s Women in Technology (WiT) ERG

Perficient’s Women in Technology (WiT) ERG is an active and passionate community where women and their allies can share ideas, find resources, and support fellow colleagues. This ERG helps promote career and educational growth for women by fostering meaningful connections with experts in the field. Recognizing the critical issue of gender equity in technology, WiT has launched initiatives like mentorship programs, career panels, networking opportunities, dedicated chapters in India and Latin America, and internal campaigns designed to empower women and propel their careers forward.

By fostering professional development and building a network of support, WiT inspires women to thrive in their careers and contribute to greater equity in the tech industry. Elisha Goldman, Director, Product Development, is a co-chair of the WiT ERG, and recently shared more about her experience.

“Leading this group adds some much-needed energy back into my life every day as these amazing women and their allies work together to create events, mentorship opportunities, and network with each other to grow their careers and make the possibilities limitless.”  – Elisha Goldman, Director, Product Development

Prioritizing Well-Being: Perficient’s LiveWell ERG

Perficient’s LiveWell ERG supports colleagues in achieving better overall well-being across three key areas: health, relationships, and finance. Acknowledging the challenges of balancing mental, physical, and emotional well-being, LiveWell offers evidence-based resources and activities that empower colleagues to prioritize their health.

By participating in our LiveWell ERG, colleagues can find balance and thrive personally and professionally through a supportive community focused on overall well-being. “Everyone’s wellness journey is different and at different stages,” said Adam Reichwein, Associate Marketing Manager, Corporate Marketing, and LiveWell ERG committee leader. “We just hope to continue fostering a community that people can go to for insights, share updates, or even struggles as they build toward their end goal.”

Perficient’s PRISM ERG has a mission to empower the LGBTQ+ community and its allies through community building and education, advancing inclusive business practices, and fostering a supportive environment. Standing for Pride, Raising awareness, Involvement, Support, and Mentoring, PRISM creates a space where LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies can be their authentic selves. Formerly known as Pride@Perficient, Perficient’s PRISM ERG began as a grassroots effort and is now a bolstering community that drives visibility and connection.

“PRISM has quickly become a cherished space for our LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies,” said Ed Hoffman, Senior Vice President and PRISM Executive Sponsor. “The ERG connects colleagues beyond geographic and organizational boundaries, enabling networking and innovation. Perficient supports its ERGs in drawing colleagues together based on their interests and shared experiences so our workforce can connect on a more meaningful level.”

Our PRISM ERG contributes to an environment where all voices are heard and celebrated by fostering a culture of inclusion and understanding. Since becoming an ERG, PRISM has hosted a variety of events, including a monthly film club that focuses on LGBTQ+ topics and themes, an educational forum on using gender pronouns in the professional world, and a festive showcase of how colleagues celebrate Pride Month across the globe. Through educational sessions, community engagement, and advocacy-focused events, PRISM aims to reduce stigma and foster understanding, ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported. A People-Centric Culture

Despite cultural and geographic differences, at Perficient, we all work together as one team with a common goal: the success of our customers. Here, all voices are heard, and all ideas are valued. Safe and respectful communication is a fundamental part of this collaborative culture.

Different Cultures and Their Impact on Professional Growth

Understanding how different cultures communicate is essential to promote an inclusive work environment. Openness to new work methodologies and dedication to knowing and understanding the cultures of our colleagues are key to building stronger connections and achieving exceptional results at work and in interpersonal relationships.

Work-life Balance

One of the key topics in the talk was the importance of work-life balance. Respecting time to rest and be with family is essential, as is allowing time for work. Here, it is recognized that everything has its time and place.

Overcoming Cultural Stereotypes

Despite differences, common interests, and affinities exist, such as a taste for music or sports. Connecting with people beyond the workplace is essential. Promoting understanding and empathy between different cultures is key to creating an inclusive environment.

And What about Language Barriers?

At Perficient, we provide a safe environment to learn and practice languages, especially English, which is the primary language of the business. We are always creating a constant learning culture.

Creating an Inclusive Environment from Leadership

Listening and understanding what is important to people is a key focus for leaders at Perficient. Expanding horizons beyond work and getting to know people more personally is critical. Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and networking opportunities are excellent ways to achieve this.

What We All Share: Culture at Perficient

Perficient stands for a core value: “People First,” prioritizing empathy and mutual support. Furthermore, we promote mentoring, encouraging employees to engage in both receiving and offering mentorship, fostering an environment that facilitates professional and personal growth.

Tips for Navigating Cultural Differences

The final tips focused on being open to learning and respecting others, speaking English, maintaining strong cross-team communication, being warm and friendly, and generating authentic human connections regardless of geographic location.

At Perficient, cultural diversity is a strength, and these valuable lessons from the “Cultivating Career Growth” talk reinforce our commitment to the inclusion and growth of our global team members. Understanding and mutual respect are keys to continued success.

Participants in Perficient’s Techie Masters team are empowered to realize their potential to change the world through their passion for technology. With our support and partnership with the Girl Powered Program, the team received hands-on experience, training resources, and educational materials to help them build a robot for a global robotics competition.

Enhancing Experiences Through a DEI Lens  https://blogs.perficient.com/2023/03/31/enhancing-experiences-through-a-dei-lens/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2023/03/31/enhancing-experiences-through-a-dei-lens/#comments Fri, 31 Mar 2023 18:23:26 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=331901

DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) has not only become one of the hottest business buzzwords in recent years, it’s also become a contributor to sales and employee retention. More of our clients are investing in DEI programs, whether to cultivate happier and healthier employees, bring more varied perspectives and experiences, or demonstrate their commitment to fair business practices. But sometimes they are not thoroughly weaving those programs into their fabric in authentic, tangible ways.

A focus on DEI cannot be taken as just a ‘tick-box exercise’ for organizations. It should be fundamentally embedded in an organization’s DNA to attract and retain difference-making employees.

Great employees can and will pack up their talents, skills, and knowledge and head for the door when a more fitting opportunity arises. Fostering feelings of value and belonging can help stem the tide of staff turnover.

On the customer side, while buyers may not avoid a brand if it doesn’t demonstrate inclusion, they are more likely to appreciate, trust, engage with, and purchase from brands that do.

Employee Impact

40% of employees are at least somewhat likely to leave their current job in the next 3 to 6 months. More than half don’t feel valued by their organizations or managers or don’t feel a sense of belonging at work. And Younger Millennials & Gen Z employees are even more driven by their desire for companies that support their well-being, including their desire to embrace their personal identity.

Creating a sense of inclusion, belonging, and connection is critical to employee attraction and retention. If we take a journey-based point of view, here’s how DEI plays out across a typical employee lifecycle from their perspective:

  • Discover: Is how I heard about the opportunity accessible to all?
  • Select: Is the hiring process equitable and inclusive?
  • Develop: Does everyone have similar opportunities to grow and advance?
  • Stay: Am I working in an inclusive culture that engages people from all backgrounds?

Customer Impact

Fifty-seven percent of consumers are more loyal to brands that commit to addressing social inequities in their actions. Almost 60% of consumers say they prefer to buy from brands that stand for diversity and inclusion. This connection is even more vital for Millennial and Generation Z buyers, who are members of the most racially and ethnically diverse populations, and expect brands to reflect that.

Connecting with your buyers and understanding their wants, needs, and behaviors means embracing their diversity and reflecting what you know of them (personalization is an excellent step to forming these kinds of connections!) For customers, here’s how DEI can impact purchase decisions from their perspective:

  • Discover: How does this brand project itself and its products/services? Does that align with my expectations?
  • Select: Is the brand authentic, inclusive, and reflective of my identity?
  • Purchase: Am I treated well and similarly to others like me through the buying process?
  • Remain Loyal: Do I believe the brand values me, its employees, and society?

Implications for Research

Undertaking research initiatives with a DEI focus has some different considerations than typical employee and customer research. Not only is DEI expertise necessary, but special care needs to be taken for the following:

  • Privacy. People have strong, personal feelings about DEI. Ensuring privacy in interactions is critical to collecting valuable insights. We do not allow our clients to monitor the interview sessions, and sessions are manually recorded by a note taker rather than recorded and transcribed, so all data is anonymized.
  • Participant Selection. To ensure a complete picture of the DEI experience, participation from all departments, levels, and regions is strongly needed. Screening for race, ethnicity, gender identity, age, ability, and other factors may be required to create a holistic, inclusive perspective.
  • Corporate Data Access. Access to HR and financial systems may be required to identify structural insights if anonymized data sets do not provide sufficient insights. These systems typically include sensitive corporate data and PII, so additional security reviews and process definitions may be required.
  • Output Sensitivity. Our analysis may expose sensitive corporate insights. We recommend clients share outputs in carefully monitored ways to ensure a proper understanding of the data and implications.

 Intended Results

While these kinds of initiatives require organizational commitment, we can answer many important organizational questions that can help retain employees and customers.

We can learn about employee sentiment, including the current state of DEI initiatives and whether employees are aligned with the goals and practices undertaken by your organization. That current-state employee perspective can help us understand whether employees believe they are working in the environments in which they want to continue working.

Customer sentiment is another critical set of insights. To ensure alignment with their perspectives and interactions align with their expectations, this data also allows us to determine the business impact of alignment and how you compare to the competition.

Leveraging these insights and the information we gather from analyzing systems, we can start charting a course forward to embed an inclusive culture that will meet (and hopefully exceed!) expectations internally and externally. From here, we can build a roadmap and business case that ensures investment and ongoing monitoring against DEI goals.

Congratulations to the Detroit and Minneapolis Bright Paths Program Graduates! https://blogs.perficient.com/2022/10/14/congratulations-to-the-minneapolis-and-detroit-bright-paths-program-graduates/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2022/10/14/congratulations-to-the-minneapolis-and-detroit-bright-paths-program-graduates/#respond Fri, 14 Oct 2022 18:13:54 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=320383

Our newest Detroit and Minneapolis Bright Paths Program cohorts recently concluded, and Perficient is proud to announce the graduation of 50 dedicated students from the program!

The Bright Paths Program is designed to advance STEM education and career opportunities for underrepresented constituencies and communities, while closing the gap in the technology industry. The latest program featured our third cohort in Detroit and our first in Minneapolis. Courses for our graduating class began in summer 2022.

In partnership with Strayer University’s Hackbright Academy and Devmountain, this fully-funded coding bootcamp allowed students to learn the necessary skills to become entry-level software engineers, quality assurance (QA) testers, and other tech positions upon program completion.

A Graduation Full of Innovation, Ingenuity and Creativity

On this day of celebration and graduation, all 50 graduates showcased the skills they developed throughout the 16-week program by presenting their individual, custom-built applications to an audience of their peers, educators, and Perficient mentors. Each graduate chose a specialized track halfway through the program, and their capstone application project was developed around their specialization and knowledge obtained throughout all 16 weeks.

The graduates’ application presentations were split into five breakout groups:

  1. Web
  2. QA
  3. Data
  4. Java A
  5. Java B

All students came from different backgrounds, many with personal experiences in careers or life that sparked the inspiration to initially apply to the program. With the ability to create a completely custom application, some students took their inspiration further and developed their application around their background, and others showcased personal interests, or even an idea they’ve always dreamt of, but never imagined successfully executing within just 16 short weeks.

Applications during the ceremony ranged from fashion blogging platforms and in-depth storefronts to deep-dive analyses of the impacts COVID-19 has had on marginalized groups in the United States. Other applications included a recipe-sharing platform, healthcare coverage analysis, how music has changed over time, world populations, and seemingly everything in between. As each student presented their work, the knowledge and skills gained from this full-time bootcamp were on full display. For each presentation, comments from Perficient mentors and fellow cohort graduates endlessly praised the impressive work put into each application.

Once the presentations concluded, all attendees gathered again in the main meeting room where multiple speakers commended each graduate for their hard work and commitment, and where graduates received their certification of program completion. Many who spoke in this final portion of the celebration described our Bright Paths Program as “intense, but life-changing and inspiring.”

Words of Wisdom

As graduates embark on a new life journey and career path, it’s important they recognize the weight this achievement holds. Applying to the program and fully immersing into the experience shows the investment each graduate made in choosing to pursue a lifelong career in an ever-evolving, thriving industry.

One of the most repeated pieces of advice in this celebratory conclusion was for graduates to stay on top of and continue advancing their skillsets. There’s always something new to learn, and in order to take ownership of a career in technology, it’s important to be your own biggest cheerleader and challenge yourself to continue growing.

Perficient’s People Promise outlines our commitment to challenge, champion, and celebrate every colleague. Included in that commitment are company-wide initiatives like Growth for Everyone which enables and encourages colleagues to seek out their professional growth. Within these initiatives and promises to our colleagues, there are seemingly endless resources to continue learning, map out careers, and understand the full potential of a career in technology.

Congratulations to our most recent Perficient Bright Paths Program Graduates! The ingenuity, passion, and dedication each student brought throughout the program prevailed in the applications they developed, and we can’t wait to see their career grows in the technology industry and beyond.

A Tide That Lifts All Boats: Overcoming Inequity in Digital Health https://blogs.perficient.com/2022/08/01/a-tide-that-lifts-all-boats-overcoming-inequity-in-digital-health/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2022/08/01/a-tide-that-lifts-all-boats-overcoming-inequity-in-digital-health/#respond Mon, 01 Aug 2022 15:00:43 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=307798

For years, people have posed questions along the lines of “when will digital health or virtual health just become health?” The premise being that digital is becoming so central to healthcare that the adjective “digital” is implied and therefore redundant.

But maybe that’s the wrong question.

If the quadruple aim is now the quintuple aim with health equity, the new fifth line, maybe the question is instead “When does digital health just become equitable health?

Making Digital Health More Equitable

Positioning the question from this different angle, the premise is simply that everything we currently do in digital health is arguably already about making healthcare more equitable and effective to and for each and every person. For example, a non-exhaustive sample might be:

  • In expanding and orchestrating virtual health, we are seeking to make the most appropriate and effective tools available at the right time and place and with appropriate context and support for every patient.
  • In addressing patient experience across digital and physical environments, we work in journey sciences to make the right information as accessible, relevant, appropriately engaging, and timely as possible to engage the right people in the right way.
  • In the back-end, ongoing efforts to enable better interoperability between our digital assets are largely driven by desires to, for example, target clinical decisions, make clinical decisions more informed and timely, draw inferences in marketing so we can carefully and safely communicate messaging, and suggest what will be most beneficial to patients (and hopefully to our businesses as well, but in that order).
  • Arguably, the many efficiencies we seek to drive adoption of AI either free up precious resources (care professionals, navigators, call center reps, etc.) to be available to the right people at the right time, or accelerate the benefit of virtual health, journey sciences, interoperability in DE&I by speeding up insights about how improve.

Overcoming The Risk of Built-in Inequity

Given that digital health has such a massive potential impact on DE&I, we need to account for risk. The risk that if we build our digital tools without carefully considering DE&I throughout, we can inadvertently build inequity into the digital solutions we hope will transform healthcare by removing inequities.

There are obvious, and well-researched, areas where this risk manifests – e.g. in the building blocks and training processes of AI or ML solutions. But the risks also arise in decisions around change management, governance, and softer, content decision aspects of deploying new digital capabilities. For example, what kinds of options do we layer into Find-a-Doctor filtering tools? How do we bridge the lines between competing norms that may vary between clients and regions?

The bottom line is that if our starting point for everything is to lead with a DE&I lens to the topic, we are much more likely to build effectively having those goals in mind and, by definition, build more effectively overall.

Enabling Healthcare Organizations to Address Health Inequity: Promoting DE&I in Healthcare https://blogs.perficient.com/2022/07/11/enabling-healthcare-organizations-to-address-health-inequity/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2022/07/11/enabling-healthcare-organizations-to-address-health-inequity/#respond Mon, 11 Jul 2022 15:00:52 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=307814

While organizations are making progress, health inequity is still pervasive across race, gender, age, and income in healthcare. We’re engaging in more and more conversations with healthcare organizations about ways to help you authentically and diligently address diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) across the healthcare experience.

A Strategic Approach to Influence Change for DE&I

Hospitals play key roles in delivering care, offering access to care, employing people, and acting as social safety nets in their communities. DE&I is imperative on a human level to promote broader perspectives, better reflect the people healthcare organizations serve, and help foster a more inclusive work environment. But, in addition, health equity supports business goals such as improved clinical outcomes, improved consumer engagement, and better financial performance.

Change management becomes a vital consideration for organizations that wish to fully embrace DE&I in their overall missions and operations. That includes steps to establish DE&I KPIs, which are critical to actually making change happen.

We help our clients think through the strategic approach of DE&I through the following:

  • Developing dedicated teams
  • Developing a task force/committee
  • Allocating budget focused on health equity
  • Continuously measuring to ensure our clients are on track to achieve their mission

Development in Action

Including diverse populations in persona development, journey mapping, and user testing is key to understanding an organization’s specific friction points, barriers, and expectations. In our work building consumer journey maps for one of the largest hospital systems in the U.S., we ensured that approximately half of the respondents can bring diverse ethnic, age, socio-economic, and sexual orientation perspectives.

Similarly, with another client, we conducted extensive research with aging populations to ensure we understood messaging and commerce experience needs to drive the adoption of a direct-to-consumer medical device. Not only did we gain significant insights through this process, but we also disproved some common misconceptions.

We also helped a leading healthcare system think through an inclusive Find-a-Doctor strategy and ensured that they addressed LGBTQ+ populations on individual physician profiles.

Content strategy and messaging are key to addressing DE&I. Ensuring that everyone feels a sense of belonging builds trust, brand loyalty, and adherence to clinical protocols.

Perspectives on Achieving Digital Accessibility in the Healthcare Experience https://blogs.perficient.com/2022/06/20/perspectives-on-achieving-digital-accessibility-in-the-healthcare-experience/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2022/06/20/perspectives-on-achieving-digital-accessibility-in-the-healthcare-experience/#respond Mon, 20 Jun 2022 15:00:25 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=307854

Increasingly, topics like digital responsibility are entering the conversation around digital transformation.  “This responsibility has evolved from primarily focusing on data privacy to now include accessibility, diversity, and inclusion as well. Really, it’s about being more proactive, less reactive. You want to take it from being aspirational to ground truth – how do we make this happen, how do we address some of the concerns, how do we meet consumer and employee expectations, and how do we even understand what those expectations are today,” shares Kim Williams-Czopek, director of digital strategy at Perficient.

Accessibility of digital experiences is receiving more focus and adoption now. An indication is that more organizations buying tech are committing to accessibility in 2022 due to the increasing number of businesses creating diversity and inclusion programs which include providing various forms of accessibility, such as equal access to websites for persons with disabilities.

Also in 2022, accessibility has become an essential responsibility. Earlier this year, the Department of Justice released a statement advising that all businesses open to the public prioritize website accessibility, so persons with disabilities can access vital website content. And it points to a number of entities, including hospitals and medical offices, which have the responsibility to “keep pace with the rapidly changing technology of our times.”

Considering Unique Challenges

Healthcare organizations play key roles in offering access to care, employing, and motivating skilled workers, and acting as social safety nets in their communities. They, along with life sciences organizations, serve on the front lines of addressing health equity.

To reach all consumers where they are, which is increasingly online, mobile, and outside of traditional care settings, it’s important to consider the diverse user stories and unique challenges that may impact how website content is accessed by persons with disabilities (now 1 in 4 in the United States). To understand those unique challenges and stories, we need to ask questions such as:

  • How easy it is for anyone to access medical treatments, symptom checkers and providers?
  • Have we included captions, audio descriptions and transcripts within our live and pre-recorded videos for people with hearing loss and dyslexia?
  • Is our healthcare content written so that anyone can understand it?
  • Do we have forms missing descriptive labels and instructions?
  • Will our error messages help our website users avoid clicking on the wrong button?

Here are some important best practices and essential Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) for making digital experiences accessible for website users:

Situational Challenges

Confusing medical or industry jargon and/or using complex sentences limits accessibility.

  • Write in plain language, for the sixth-grade level, noting that many healthcare users are not native English speakers
  • Write inclusively (older person, not senior or senior citizen)
  • Write person first (people with autism, not autistic people)
  • Remove idioms and jargon
  • Provide a glossary (or on page help text) when specific terminology must be used

Temporary Impairments

An accident limits the ability to navigate a mobile device.

  • Design for keyboard users
  • Design for voice search
  • Give users alternatives to drag and drop interactions
  • Avoid swiping motions (use tap instead)

Health Conditions

Pain, fatigue, memory loss, etc. can impact the duration of web use.

  • Design simple interactions
  • Reduce or eliminate scrolling
  • Design pop-ups and alerts near the visual focus
  • For mobile, avoid both horizontal and vertical scrolling (e.g., carousels)

Changing Abilities

Some accessibility features are needed one day and not another day.

  • Provide captions and transcripts for all videos
  • Suggest a translation app or provide one
  • Enable zoom text to 200%

Multiple Disabilities

Disability comes in combinations such as hearing loss and low vision.

  • Design for screen reader users
  • Enable zoom text to 200%
  • Support users wishing to customize fonts, colors and spacing

Healthcare organizations play a key role in offering access to care, employing and motivating skilled workers, and acting as social safety nets in their communities. They, along with life sciences organizations, serve on the front lines of addressing health equity. Perficient is dedicated to enabling these organizations to operate equitably in all areas of their business.

Helping Providers, Payers, and Employers Operate Inclusively

As a global digital consultancy, Perficient is uniquely positioned to equip providers, payers, and employees in the healthcare industry. We enable these stakeholders as they plan, activate, monitor, and expand their DE&I initiatives.

  • We partner with providers and payers to help them become comfortable with DE&I initiatives, through campaigns and roll-out of messaging. We evaluate the Find-a-Doctor functionality to be sure the hospital is highlighting a diverse range of providers in searches.
  • We support healthcare employees by helping their employers to create a DE&I strategy and conduct content strategy/development across the employee intranet.
  • For any healthcare organization that works with our nearshore and offshore teams, we can supplement/integrate with the client teams in a way that increases diversity and awareness of working across different subcultures.

12 Steps to Equitable End-to-End Solutions: A Case Study

We delivered work for a leading healthcare system including strategy, assessment, and recommendations on their web and CMS digital marketing communications. They worked closely with our strategists to implement many of our recommendations:

  1. Evaluate each step of the patient journey and analyze where their marketing communications fail to reach the intended audiences with an inclusive voice.
  2. Perform user testing on their website and live focus groups/stakeholder interviews. Accessing direct patient and consumer feedback helps to surface insights about how communications are perceived, whether they’re effective, and what would work better with respect to functionality and user experience.
  3. Deliver competitive analysis to see what others are doing in the field.
  4. Review chatbot flow through the lens of diverse audiences and revise scripts for more inclusive language.
  5. Analyze contact center engagement, including secret shopper calls and human chat transcripts, to find opportunities to make human touchpoints more inclusive and coherent with digital and other omnichannel communications.
  6. Enable and extend digital marketing and journey-based campaigns (e.g., Salesforce, Sitecore, Adobe, etc.) for diverse audiences.
  7. Facilitate KPI workshops to achieve DE&I goals.
  8. Design and implement inclusive “Find a Doctor” functionality (adding LGBTQ+ indicators and filters, etc.) and integrated online scheduling.
  9. Leverage our recommendation for specific, free inclusivity training to set meaningful provider filters and improve doctor-patient communications across the network. Update the patient record and forms to capture self-identified sexual orientation and gender and measure the growth of this patient base.
  10. Revise and improve taxonomy and search to return results for a more diverse patient base, using tools like Coveo, Lucidworks, Algolia, etc.
  11. Create a DE&I content strategy with a “Communications Hub” approach and develop/write the content across the website and digital materials.
  12. Analyze SEO and analytics related to consumer demographics and sources of traffic to improve certain demographic goals.

In the 6 months following, the client saw a measurable and immediate increase in patients from more diverse backgrounds, as well as overall, because of these DE&I improvements.
