What are you grateful for? At Perficient, we’re thankful for everything our partners do in the field to improve and save lives. This week, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the work of Partners In Health, an organization that provides healthcare services and resources to the most impoverished and underserved regions around the world. PIH is a long-standing partner to Perficient and recently was featured in a Microsoft campaign that highlighted their efforts to bring unified collaboration and cloud technology to their 18,000 colleagues in 10 countries.
We sat down with Dave Mayo, PIH’s Chief Information Officer, to get an update on the organization’s work and fulfillment of their mission to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need. For the next week, we’ll highlight parts of our interview with Mayo to reflect our gratitude for the work they’re doing.

Perficient: What is an example of a success in the field that may have been otherwise impossible without the partnership of Microsoft and Perficient?
Dave Mayo: With the Ebola outbreak and when we went into Sierra Leone and Liberia, by having everybody on one common platform, we were able to update the organization and know that when our CEO sent an email to all hands, it really went to all hands. Office 365 was the platform.
We were sending folks out and getting boots on the ground. If you were to ask a clinician or a country director who was tasked with setting up mobile hospitals and infrastructure and figuring out supplies, being able to get to a global address book to look up folks within the organization was a daunting task. Office 365 is really the platform that helped. The technology equipped our folks in the field from a mobility standpoint.
Prior to the Office 365 implementation, we were cobbled together. At most organizations, you take for granted that you’re equipped with the basic fundamentals to do your job, but at PIH, we didn’t have that before Office 365. For the first time in the history of the organization, we are on one common enterprise level platform with Office 365. It’s definitely been an exciting couple of years.
