12 Days of DevOps: 5 Cloud-Native Instances

“On the fifth day of Christmas, my IT guy gave to me, 5 cloud-native instances”

Though technology has always driven flexibility, its development has been another story. Bogged down by a variety of platforms, developers have always sought ways to accelerate creation, quality assurance, and deployment.

We understand these challenges and sought to support the needs of future developers, announcing our partnership with Pivotal earlier this summer. Among the reasons for the partnership included the capability of developing applications directly in the cloud, increasing agility, lowering costs, and encouraging DevOps. Cloud Native is also a preferable development tactic for other reasons including:

  • Open Source Code: Much of the cloud relies on open-source code, even in the enterprise. As startups attract funding with open-source projects, enterprises follow suit by adopting as well, creating a more level playing field that encourages innovation. Many cloud platforms even operate on open-source operating systems like Linux, which are much cheaper to use.
  • Ubiquity and Flexibility: Cloud-native applications are meant to function in a more flexible world and grow at scale. With flexibility in mind, cloud applications can run on varying software stacks and enable the growth organizations desire.
  • Automation: The final benefit to cloud-native application development is automation. Organizations who deploy cloud-native applications enjoy automated resource management and risk assessment since many tools have these features built in. This helps organizations improve business processes and reduce manual activities.

Is your organization looking for a cloud-native approach? Our partnership with Pivotal enables organizations to develop applications natively in the cloud. Let us know at sales@perficient.com and we’ll be happy to share with you on our Pivotal and cloud-native capabilities.
