Non-Sitecore Posts about Sitecore Topics

One of the great things about working for Perficient is being surrounded by a great deal of very experienced, knowledgeable and motivated technologists – many of whom are working in a completely different technology than I am working.  Another reason is that a good deal of these co-workers are not only willing to be open […]

Sitecore Calendar Module Thoughts

I recently got to play around with the Sitecore Calendar Module for the first time and thought I’d share my thoughts about it here.  My first impression was pretty good, as there was clear documentation about what the module offered and I was happy to see that it specifically had the view that I was […]

Official Sitecore Training – Recommendations on Who, What & When

As we approach the new year, it’s time for a budget reset for many companies.  Those companies who already have or are about to purchase Sitecore may have put money aside in their budget to train their employees on Sitecore.  We get a lot of questions from our clients about what Sitecore classes to attend, […]

Sitecore Idiosyncrasies

John West has been writing a few posts on Sitecore Idiosyncrasies over on the Sitecore site lately, and I have to highlight them and recommend them to all Sitecore developers.  I have a number of coworkers with expansive CMS experience in systems other than Sitecore, and often times a large challenge to learning Sitecore is […]

Sitecore DMS In Action: QueryStringCondition

Sitecore’s Digital Marketing Suite (DMS) is obviously a huge game-breaker in the WCM market.  Here’s a tool that is seamlessly integrated into your CMS and allows you to track advanced usage analytics, do multivariate testing on your website, and personalize content on your site so that it is the most effective it can be and your site visitors get the […]

Working With the Sitecore Attachment Field Type

A client of mine recently had a situation that we decided was best handled by uploading an XML file into a Sitecore item for their Sitecore 6.6 site.  Due to some business rules, we decided that we didn’t want the upload to be stored directly in the media library, but instead in a data template […]

Troubleshooting Sitecore Item Buckets Installation

I recently installed the Item Buckets packages to my Sitecore 6.6 installation so that I could play around with it and determine if it could be used for a particular business need of one of my clients.  After having seen Tim Ward’s presentation at Sitecore Symposium on Item Buckets, I have to say I was looking […]

What I'm thankful about regarding Sitecore

With Thanksgiving just a day away, it’s hard for me not to reflect upon all that I’m personally thankful for in my life.  I’m most thankful for my awesome Son who just turned 1 last weekend, and my beautiful wife who is making a superb mother.  I’m thankful that we all have our health, and […]

Handling Environment Specific Links in Sitecore

One of my clients recently had a somewhat unusual requirement when working with Sitecore.  Due to some business rules, they are forced to input their Production content into Sitecore at their Development Environment and push it from Development all the way up to Production.  Their Sitecore website has links to other of their in-house systems […]
