Over the past 10 weeks, I have had the amazing opportunity to work as a marketing intern with the corporate communications team at Perficient. It has been a summer full of growth, learning, and laughs, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
Building My Experience – And My Network!
I am about to step into my senior year of high school, and I have been very involved in a variety of activities over the course of my high school career. My most meaningful has been working on the school newspaper. I am now starting my second year as a co-editor-in-chief, and I love it. The entire writing, editing, and designing process excites me, and I wanted to bring some of that passion forward when working with Perficient. During my internship, I have been so lucky to dip my toe in several areas of marketing that I am interested in, which has helped me improve my skills and get a feel for different career paths.
Goal-Setting Is Key to Success – No Matter What It Is
At the same time I began my internship, my family and I took up hiking with a goal of hiking a new trail each week. This new activity presented comparisons with my internship I wasn’t expecting. While we knew each week would present a new challenge, we were prepared to tackle the challenging path together. Some weeks were difficult, but as the mountains got higher, we could feel ourselves getting stronger, and I was able to apply this same goal-oriented mindset to my work as an intern.
Whether hitting the books or the trails, Sahithi proves a strategic outlook helps her reach her goals.
My Goals For My Perficient Internship
This was my first time in a professional workplace setting, and I wanted to make the best of my time here. I had three main goals I wanted to achieve by the end of my internship: become a better writer, explore different avenues of internal communications, and become better acquainted with business communications and the consulting industry. Perficient helped me so I could achieve these goals. I took this opportunity to fully explore and try new things and to improve my skillsets. Every new project was a learning experience for me, and I was able to pick up so many useful tips and helpful information along the way.
Perficient Helped Me Grow
Overall, this experience was nothing like I have ever undergone before, and I am thankful for all the opportunities everyone has given me. I will be taking the work I have done here and applying it to all other areas of my life, and I can’t wait to continue growing from here!
