Our Charlotte office moved locations to the new WeWork building called Railyard South End, which resides at 1422 S. Tryon St, Suite 300. The South End neighborhood of Charlotte is located just south of Uptown Charlotte and is home to many young professionals attracted by the luxury apartment buildings, offices, restaurants, and breweries.
The area has exploded after the Light Rail was built, which provides transportation from South Charlotte to Uptown and on to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte campus northeast of Uptown. There is a light rail stop called Bland St. one block from the Perficient office. There is also a rail trail next to the Light Rail frequented by bikers and runners during their lunch breaks.
“I really like living and working in Charlotte. I’ve been here for nearly 25 years. And I think we have a great mix of ‘big city’ atmosphere and activity, combined with a bit of ‘small town’ community and connection,” says Matt Kislowski, Client Services Director.
The WeWork building is a co-working space that provides networking opportunities with other local and national companies. There are shared spaces with couches, booths, pool and foosball tables, and a balcony all with modern trendy décor. The WeWork office provides a cappuccino machine, coffee, fruit-infused water, and even beer on tap. “The space exudes entrepreneurial energy and makes you excited to come to work,” says Dan Ryan, Senior Project Manager.
There are often vendors sponsoring events to sample their products and learn about their services. The office also has a fitness center plus restaurants and retail on the ground level. Various size conference rooms can be reserved through the WeWork mobile app. It is also pet friendly and has a large parking garage.
“I enjoy the new location for many reasons. Primarily because when you need a change of scenery to concentrate or come up with creative ideas, you can either go to the lounge areas, balcony, conference rooms, game area, or main lobby. And they provide the drinks as well,” shares Richard Cashman, Director, Charlotte Consulting.
Stylish Space Gives Startup Vibes
A wall of windows floods the work area with daylight and displays a scenic view of the bustling metropolis. Charlotte is a vibrant and growing city with a steady influx of technology workers and start-up companies.

Matt Kislowski likes the new office. He commented, “Our new office space is really terrific – we’re co-located in a WeWork space that is open, collaborative, energetic, and interesting. Plus, we have lots of terrific amenities that you don’t always find in a traditional corporate space.”
Lots to Do in South End
Perficient Charlotte colleagues enjoy getting out and about. They have plenty of opportunities to do so, as South End boasts some of the city’s best-known restaurants, breweries, and bars – all in perfect proximity for a lunchtime meeting or an after-hours gathering.
In fact, business coordinator Lori Jane Shoenthal’s husband Alex owns a brewery called Lower Left Brewing Co. nearby the Charlotte office, where we have held happy hour events.
“The South End location for our new Charlotte office is an entertaining and exciting area of the city. There are new restaurants, breweries, and all kinds of retail businesses opening every day! There’s so much to do within easy walking distance, plus we have great access to the light rail and the greenway, which is a very active walking and biking trail connecting various sections of Charlotte,” states Matt Kislowski.
Collaborative Environment
“I enjoy working with my colleagues in the Charlotte office,” said Dan Ryan. “We are based at different client sites around the city, but come together regularly for office meetings, lunch and learn sessions, and delivery team meetings. We have consultants present client “spotlights” during delivery team meetings to share how we are bringing value to our clients, and the tips provided often apply to the client I’m working at.”
“Our Perficient Charlotte colleagues are a talented, motivated group of people who embody the One Perficient mindset and set of values every single day. The local leadership team has been so welcoming and inclusive of our colleagues who live in the area but are attached to other business units. Whether it be hosting happy hours, organizing community service events, or holding all-hands quarterly business update meetings,” said Raj Merchant, Director Data Solutions.
Getting Together Outside of the Office
“Over the last 8 years with Perficient, I have truly enjoyed being involved in the planning of many volunteer activities with various local charities and getting colleagues together for fun outings. As a team, we really make an impact in our community, and we always have so much fun doing it,” said Lori Jane Shoenthal, who helps lead the office’s Culture Committee. Some of the outings have included baseball games at BB&T Ballpark, Carolina Panthers tailgates, and games, annual holiday parties, bowling, golfing, and happy hours after office meetings.
Giving Back to the Community
Team-building opportunities come in large part from philanthropic efforts. The Charlotte team is strongly committed to giving back to the community and does so often. Past community service events included serving food at the Men’s Shelter of Charlotte, sorting food donations at the local food bank, and doing landscaping in the classroom garden at a local school.
“The Charlotte team makes a concerted effort to get involved in community service events, focusing on activities and opportunities that resonate with us. Perficient is very supportive of our efforts and it’s a great way to connect back to the community,” said Matt Kislowski.
The Charlotte team has been involved with Habitat for Humanity events building and repairing houses for families in need. Team members also collect school supplies to donate to a local charity.
