6 Reasons Why Perficient Is Growing in Fargo

Perficient Fargo Location

Around here, we believe in big ideas and bigger horizons. Perficient is 3,500+ colleagues strong, and our company continues to grow at a rapid rate nationwide. Last week, that growth became clearer in one particular place: Fargo.

Wait … Fargo? Yes, really. Fargo. In May, Perficient acquired Sundog Interactive, a Fargo-based marketing and technology firm specializing in Salesforce solutions for the world’s top manufacturers. The signs on the building officially changed last week, welcoming in a new era and opening doors for a growing team. (By the way, we’re hiring! You can view the current Fargo job listings here.)

So why did Perficient choose to expand in Fargo anyway? As a former “Sundogger” myself, I’d love to share why we’ve always been proud to call this place our hometown – as well as give you an insider’s view of this surprisingly cool city on the grow.

Here are six reasons why it’s so easy to love:

#1: The Tech Hotspot with Heart.
California has the Silicon Valley. We have the Silicon Prairie. With deep roots in entrepreneurship and tech success, our city’s transformation actually began back in the 1980s with Great Plains Software, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2000.

Today Fargo is home to the second largest Microsoft field campus in the country and industrial giants like Bobcat Company and RDO Equipment, not to mention a booming downtown, hot job market for professionals, and more than 50 thriving start-ups.

#2: The Middle of Everywhere.
There’s a lot to love about the Midwest. The work ethic. The nice people. Even the hotdish. Our clients love the fact that we’ll meet them, wherever they are. And not only do we have a lot of expertise up our sleeves, we believe in rolling them up, too.

#3: The Views.
I admit: it’s windy. But the skies here are as big as your imagination.
By the way, we hear that our Perficient neighbors in Bozeman, Montana, love being in “Big Sky Country,” too.

4: The Lifestyle.
In 2019 Fargo was named one of the Top 100 Best Places to Live by Livability, due to its affordable cost of living (thanks to a median home price under $200K), 90 miles of trails, 17 outdoor hockey rinks, art galleries, fine dining and the best craft breweries you can imagine. (If you ever want to talk about stouts, porters or experimental sours, let me know. I’ll be happy to make a few recommendations.)

Oh, and we promise – the hospitality here is always warmer than the weather.

#5: The Talent.
The city has become a hub for the best young professionals and the brightest minds. In fact, the metro area is home to three major colleges (North Dakota State University, Concordia College and Minnesota State University Moorhead right across the river), as well as a variety of tech schools and specialized programs. Fun fact: under the Sundog name, Perficient’s Fargo location was also named one of the Best Places to Work in the nation by Advertising Age (three times!), Best Place to Intern and the Best Place to Work for Young Professionals in ND.

#6: The Place of Possibilities.
And if you like the sound of that, well – you’ll fit right in.
