If you were to ask any Perficient Minneapolis colleagues what their favorite social event of the year is, the unanimous answer would be The Boat Cruise. Given the short window of snow-free days in Minnesota, spending a Friday afternoon on one of the 10,000 lakes is an opportunity that cannot be missed. A fun twist to a happy hour, wouldn’t you say? Minneapolis Team’s Annual Boat Cruise has become a tradition we’ve all come to love and look forward to each year.
Annual Boat Cruise Fun
For the past several years, our office has consistently voted for Lake Minnetonka, primarily for the calm waters, as well as and the scenic architecture tour of the lakeshore mansions. This year’s event began shortly after lunch on a Friday in late July. Our General Manager Art Quinn greeted nearly 50 colleagues with his “famous” jokes and quickly briefed the team on Minneapolis project and staffing updates. The boat charter company then served up gourmet food and refreshments from an open bar.
Despite having a strong presence with local Twin Cities clients, our Perficient office also welcomes several Perficient Digital colleagues who work on remote projects. “Being part of the Digital Team, I enjoy the boat cruise as it gives me an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues that are engaged on local clients, who I don’t get to see often,” said Anne Tracy, senior digital marketing consultant.
A Fun Twist to a Happy Hour
Office conversations frequently tend to revolve around clients and projects in flights, whereas the boat cruise provides a more relaxed atmosphere, filled with laughter, board games and office trivia.
“It is different than a regular Friday in the office,” said Sarah Rosenberg, project manager. “Social events outside the office setting help us get to know our co-workers better.”
Our annual boat cruise is one of the ways Perficient Minneapolis shows appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our colleagues. Involvement in planning and attending events such as the boat cruise helps foster employee engagement and ensure a positive and caring work environment.
