Blog contribution by Tim Branham, Perficient Dallas General Manager
Colleagues from our Dallas office recently traveled to Argyle, Texas, to help prepare the grounds of a 50-acre horse farm called New Hope Equine for the organization’s annual Fall Festival. More than 50 hours of service were delivered.
New Hope Equine provides horse therapy for children with special needs. Because this was our second year, our staff jumped right in and took on jobs such as painting and repairing about a half mile of fencing, mowing and clearing land, and moving and clearing wood and obstacles from the riding trails.
Our team was remarkable in that they approached every task with such enthusiasm and vigor that many times they would finish their task and immediately ask, “What else can we help with?” It was especially rewarding that many of the staff and volunteer coordinators remembered the “Perficient team.”
Like all of the Texas community events our colleagues support, we look for organizations that help our youth, underprivileged families, veterans, and animals.
With New Hope Equine, we have a chance to help children with special needs and the horses. Most of the horses used at New Hope are retired police force animals and donated horses. One horse is even blind, but it has such a gentle temperament that the horse walkers have no problem providing fun rides to the children.
Being known in the communities around our offices for our service and involvement is a major focus for our team.
