#HIMSS16 Perspective: David Chou, Healthcare CIO


David Chou, Healthcare CIOHIMSS16 is right around the corner and to help get everyone prepared I wanted to provide a series of blog posts with perspectives from different people in the healthcare industry. Today, I bring you an interview with David Chou (@dchou1107), an executive with more than 13 years of experience in the healthcare industry. David has been named to several “Top Social CIO” and “CIOs to Know” lists. He is a visionary and resourceful leader with expertise in healthcare and digital technology and a proven track record of delivering innovative, state-of-the-art solutions.

What are you looking forward to most at HIMSS?
DAVID: HIMSS is a great venue for collaboration and showcasing innovations in technology. As a client it is a good event to meet and connect with all of our partners. From a personal development perspective, I enjoy the event in order to network with my peers and counterparts. The best discussions and ideas have been a result of the HIMSS conference and networking reception. Healthcare professionals and organizations have similar challenges and I find it valuable to collaborate with others in the industry at HIMSS to try and find solutions to solve these challenges.


What trends/topics do you anticipate will be a focus at HIMSS?
DAVID: I am sure the focus will be on population health management, security, and analytics. Hopefully there will be some creative solution to solving the healthcare challenge of providing the best care at the lowest cost possible.

If you could give one piece of advice to a first-time HIMSS attendee what would it be?
DAVID: HIMSS can be extremely overwhelming for a first-time attendee. The key is to go in with the top 2-3 objectives and schedule the day accordingly.
