At Perficient, we value entrepreneurial thinking and creativity in and out of the office. So, when Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist Trina Thornton invited our team in the Minneapolis office to this year’s MinneDemo, we jumped on board.
The annual conference showcased the latest projects from the local start-up scene and drew more than 500 Minnesota IT pros, start-ups, marketers, entrepreneurs, students, and recruiters at The Depot in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis is one of the fastest-growing technology centers in the United States, locally known as the Silicon Lakes, with blooming talent and plenty of start-up capital. The organization behind the conference, minne*, describes the event as a “geek show-n-tell”, showcasing “real, working technology” within a 7-minute time limit and strict prohibition of PowerPoints.
The atmosphere was vibrant and energetic, and the beautiful interior of the Renaissance hotel provided a great venue for networking and meeting other technology professionals. Events like this not only bring Minnesota’s technology community together but also raise awareness about what it means to have a career in the technology industry.
Attendees came from a variety of backgrounds – software engineers, sales representatives, marketers, interns, and CEOs – all gathered in one place to talk about the ways in which technology can make our lives more efficient, engaging and fun.
MinneDemo ConferenceThe presentations addressed a variety of consumer needs, such as managing risk related to online retail (Token of Trust), shortening wait time in restaurants (Text-in-Line), computer self-repair service (Nerdplanet) and much more. All of the products and services had one thing in common: empowering the consumer and bridging the gap between digital devices and everyday life.
Conferences like MinneDemo help to keep our team on top of today’s best practices in the consumer markets industry. We are looking forward to the upcoming Twin Cities Startup Week in September, yet another chance to support the creativity and innovative endeavors of our local technology community.
