Dreamforce: Salesforce1 Mobile Keynote

Salesforce shared their roadmap for the Salesforce1 Mobile platform.  Here are the themes for upcoming releases, especially for Winter 2014.

For Users:

  • Find and update customer data finder – new customer lists, self-curated lists, more information on the list itself so you don’t have to go to the details view as often.  All of the actions are unified in one place.  They’ve cut the number of clicks by 50%.
  • Capture Notes and Tasks contextually – you can capture notes right on an opportunity.  As you type, it will recognize names and tasks and link directly to them.
  • Integrate seamlessly with Microsoft – the mobile app integrates with Microsoft Office products, like OneDrive, Excel, etc.

For Admins:

  • Easier Salesforce1 Mobile Setup – in the Winter Release, Admins can easily add applications to the navigation menu using drag & drop.  Other apps like Dropbox and Evernote can be included too. Admins can also modify the action bar using a drag & drop interface.
  • Build Salesforce1 Pages using the Lightning App Builder.  The new lightening app builder brings many components, including VisualForce apps.  to an easy to use page builder.  Once saved, the app will appear on the mobile devices with no further deployment.

There are over 200 productivity enhancements coming in the future releases.

What about a mobile strategy?  87% of C-level execs are making mobile a top priority.  That number doubled since last year. Salesforce recognizes that mobile apps are really becoming a differentiator.  Salesforce is take a two prong approach:

  • Apps for Employees
  • Customer facing apps

Naturally Salesforce wants companies to use the Salesforce1 platform to accomplish both strategies.
