Are you sick of Meaningful Use?

The theme from physicians, CIOs, CMIOs, and other sundry healthcare professionals at HIMSS is consistent. Qualifying for Meaningful Use is taking up all our spare time. MU initiatives are usurping staff and delaying other projects. Many say they would like for it to just go away, but they also realize the more good, reliable, and trustworthy information they have, the better they can make clinical decisions.

The good news? Many healthcare professionals are starting to see reimbursements for meeting Meaningful Use. This is great news. Unfortunately, the requirements were pretty simple for Stage I but they get more onerous for Stages II and III. IT organizations and care providers will have to work harder to qualify going forward.

Upon exploring lessons learned, I’ve learned many IT teams have tried to build their own MU solutions only to find they were not certified by ONC and therefore ineligible for reimbursement. This is frustrating, costly, and demoralizing. In some cases, the cost of certification is higher than the cost to build the solution.

There is a prescription to ease this pain. Buy instead of build. There are several ONC certified products on the show floor that have been through the rigorous certification process. One example is our Health BI solution. This offers all the Meaningful Use measures, works with your existing systems, and is guaranteed to remain Stage I, 2, and 3 certified. One of our clients estimates the cost to build a comparable system is over $1.4M and that doesn’t include dealing with ONC. We can deploy this for a fraction of the cost, starting next week.

Don’t wait. Come by Booth 1274 and let us show you to take away the reimbursement pain.
