Responding to substantially expanding breadth of services and doubled headcount, Perficient is pleased to announce that we have opened a new and expanded facility in China.
In a release issued today, Perficient’s chief executive and president, Jeffrey Davis, commented on the growth:
“As Perficient scales in the years ahead, we expect growth at the GDC to accelerate at an even faster pace and Hangzhou’s established infrastructure and proximity to university-trained IT professionals make it an ideal location. At 43,000 sq. feet, this new facility is twice the size of our previous location and will accommodate more than 400 colleagues at maximum capacity.”
What’s also very interesting about this news is how the development and construction of the new facility appeared to occur in an agile format. Perficient’s Kevin Sheen who oversees the global delivery center recently blogged about his experience in “Agile and Our Office Move,” in which he reflects:
“I and others walked around the site as it was being built out. When I wasn’t there I got updates via ad-hoc walk-around pictures posted in one of my colleagues MobileMe gallery. Every few days I got a ‘release’ that I could see and assess.”
“There were daily stand-ups across shores and offices – not just the formal ones but informal ones as well. There were (albeit informal) sprints and work-arounds and annotated design documents. There were re-prioritizations of work based on project needs (e.g. bring up the phones first or the VPNs)? And there was a final delivery”
