Which AJAX library should I use?

So these days, we never build a site without using some sort of rich interface.  IBM love DOJO. Liferay and others love JQuery.   You can also look at YUI and DHTMLx.  In talking to our developers, they are using JQuery a lot although it’s not perfect.

On one client, we ran into issues where JQuery wasn’t fast enough for result sets over 500.  Our architect there then chose DHTMLx because it’s geared towards exactly that.  His initial tests are promising so we’ll see how things go once we start load testings.

I guess the story is that there are strengths and weaknesses to each AJAX library. DOJO should support the browser pretty well and keep you from doing too much coding for exceptions. JQuery is easy.  etc.
