Reflections on Gratitude: Partners In Health (Part 4 of 5)

What are you grateful for? At Perficient, we’re thankful for everything our partners do in the field to improve and save lives. This week, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the work of Partners In Health, an organization that provides healthcare services and resources to the most impoverished and underserved regions around the world. PIH is a long-standing partner to Perficient and recently was featured in a Microsoft campaign that highlighted their efforts to bring unified collaboration and cloud technology to their 18,000 colleagues in 10 countries.
We sat down with Dave Mayo, PIH’s Chief Information Officer, to get an update on the organization’s work and fulfillment of their mission to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need. For the next week, we’ll highlight parts of our interview with Mayo to reflect our gratitude for the work they’re doing.

Perficient: How did it feel at PIH to be featured in a Microsoft ad campaign?
Dave Mayo: It was humbling. We were ecstatic. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of Microsoft and Perficient.
There’s definitely a lot more to do. Folks need the technology yesterday. We’ve got a long road ahead to continue to make improvements and continue with adoption of the new technologies and platforms, but it’s an exciting time at PIH.
We’re excited for the follow-up. Microsoft is still really actively engaged, and they’re eager. There are definitely more services that are out there within the Microsoft world that could really make a life or death change to Partners In Health.
Perficient: What are the next parts of the project that you are most excited to see?
Dave Mayo: We’re really excited to unite the organization in all 10 countries in the most remote clinics and hospitals that we have. It’s a two-pronged approach: We need to invest in our infrastructure so we can support the technologies and then we need to get the technologies into the most remote regions of the world in a working fashion, so that all members of the team can utilize the platform. That’s really the big piece for us. Because we do work so remotely, there are huge logistical issues.
We’re engaged right now with Perficient where we’re going country by country and putting together a plan for getting out to those remote regions and getting those folks online and connected. To be able to have that foundation and be able to build on it is really where it’s all at.

This is part 4 of a week-long series on PIH’s work. Check out more about our work with Partners In Health here.
