Microsoft launched the new SharePoint mobile app for iOS today, giving users access to their intranet on the go. Users can interact with content, people, and sites from their iPhones, giving SharePoint more relevance with today’s mobile device-dependent workforce.

1. What SharePoint versions does it work with?

The app works with SharePoint Online in Office 365, SharePoint Server 2013 and 2016 on-premises, and hybrid deployments. It supports several authentication methods, including mobile device management and mobile application management, according to the Microsoft Office Blog.

2. How does it interact with other Office apps?

When you tap a link to an Office document in the SharePoint app, it will open the doc in its native app. The SharePoint app also works in conjunction with the OneDrive app to manage files, documents, and libraries.

3. How does the search functionality work within the app?

The app’s search functionality is pushed through the enterprise search, so it will bring back results from your full intranet, including team sites, portals, and OneDrive docs. It also uses Microsoft’s Graph to give recommendations on relevant content.
