Last week, Perficient sponsored and presented at SharePoint Fest Chicago. One of our speakers was Rich Wood, National Director of Modern Applications here at Perficient. He presented on “Migrating Your Intranet to SharePoint Online.”
First, Rich explained what’s different about the cloud, and gave details on SharePoint as a service, including what makes it different from SharePoint on-premise. Next, he discussed key intranet elements and what to plan for, particularly around search and social (and Yammer). He explained user profiles, managed metadata, lists, libraries, and calendars, publishing, Office Web Apps, Skydrive, customization… you name it, he covered it!
He also talked about governance, site provisioning, security, compliance and privacy. And of course, he covered migration questions, options, and tools. Thanks to both Rich and Perficient’s Chris Hines for such a comprehensive presentation on SharePoint Online.
