Support for only one Calendar Connector in Exchange 2007

In Exchange 2003, only one Calendar Connector can exist for every one Administrative Group. So technically, you could have multiple Calendar Connectors in a single Exchange 2003 Organization, with multiple Administrative Groups. Exchange 2007 only supports one Administrative Group in a native Exchange 2007 Organization. Because of this, your capabilities to implement multiple Calendar Connectors are not possible, unless your Exchange 2007 implementation coexists with Exchange 2003. In this scenario, you could use the Microsoft Transporter Suite for Lotus Domino in Exchange 2007, then use the legacy Microsoft Exchange 2003 Calendar Connector for Lotus Notes for each Administrative Group in Exchange 2003.

At this point, replication of Free/Busy public folder information will be critical, since multiple Administrative Groups will be necessary. When an end-user queries Free/ Busy for a particular Lotus Notes user, the query will go to the Administrative Group/ Server(s), holding the replica information. Keep in mind, replication of Free/Busy information across servers and Administrative Groups could prevent users from getting recent information. On the flip side, the fewer replicas you have, the more queries you make against the Administrative Group/server(s) holding the current Free/ Busy replicas. At this point, a decision needs to be made: Do you want quick look ups or more recent Free/Busy information?
