Perficient Team Donates 6,000 Meals in 104.3 WOMC Great Office Challenge

“The generosity of my colleagues never ceases to amaze me,” said Amy Becker, office administrator in our Detroit location.
That was especially true in January when her colleagues came together in a big way to participate in the 104.3 WOMC Great Office Challenge.
The radio station’s friendly competition among local businesses raised funds for Gleaners Community Food Bank. The Perficient team’s online donations totaled $1,124.17 – enough to win the challenge. With all donations matched by Kroger, that means Perficient colleagues provided 6,745 meals to children and families facing hunger insecurity in southeast Michigan. Of every dollar donated, Gleaners uses 95 cents for food and food programs.
“The fact that 95 cents of each dollar goes directly to feeding hungry kids is an incredible return on investment. I’m so proud of our team, and they, in turn, should be very proud of themselves,” said Jeffrey Morcom, a director in Detroit. He also praised Amy for her efforts in getting the team on board. “Amy’s coordination and drive made this happen, and her belief in this cause was infectious.”
Amy credited her colleagues and their outpouring of support.
“It was a fantastic feeling to see an idea that I was hoping people would be open to come full circle and go above and beyond anything I could have expected. Seeing how happy the staff at Gleaners were gave me the biggest smile.”
“Giving back to the community you work or live in has a lasting, positive impact on society in general. Gleaners provides a critical service to thousands of people – providing them with food. No one deserves to go to bed hungry, especially a child.”
In addition to online donations, the Detroit team hosted a Friday breakfast at the office and raised $163. Many committed to match Mitch Kramer, a director, at the rate of $.25 per pancake consumed. They stopped counting at 100.

The Great Office Challenge wrapped up on February 3 with the 104.3 WOMC Children’s Hunger Radiothon, which raised enough funds to distribute more than 585,000 meals.
Perficient was invited to appear live on radio host Jim Johnson’s 10am to 2pm show. The host asked Jeffrey Morcom, Amy Becker, and Joel Stanesa (pictured above, from left) a handful of questions about Perficient – what our company does, where we are located, the number of local employees, and most importantly, how the team rallied to raise more than $1,100 and win the Great Office Challenge.
“Telling the Detroit listening audience about Perficient and having a relaxed, natural banter with the DJ was a lot of fun,” Jeffrey Morcom said.
The experience has inspired future philanthropic efforts.
“I look forward to more events where we can roll up our sleeves and make a difference,” Jeffrey Morcom said.
