The Diversity of Healthcare Regulations

The enhanced efficiency of patient management, developing community partnerships in healthcare delivery services, and tracking and analyzing healthcare information are all essential in reviewing current regulations, while developing proposed guidelines and recommendations. This area of healthcare clearly has numerous channels in addressing quality of care while balancing existing healthcare models with cost efficiency and organizational stability. Included in modification of existing regulations is an inherent foresight in comprehending how varying arms of healthcare regulations and mandates are affecting all intrinsic components. Essential components include organizational mandates (e.g. Medicaid, Medicare, Food and Drug Administration), diversity in patient populations (e.g. low socio-economic, under-served, gender and age specific), and healthcare delivery (e.g. accessibility, diagnostic/procedural coding, revenue cycling). As these individual entities are monitored and analyzed for inclusion in updating regulations, the coordination of these individual components will enhance a systemic approach that bridges various channels of healthcare delivery.

Multi-Channel Regulations

The potential implications of a multi-tiered regulation monitoring and renewal will foster cooperation across providers, payers, and patients to instill a cumulative as well as compartmentalized approach in regulatory review and implementation. This is not limited to already existing regulations, since this has the capabilities of being inclusive of the current methodologies of local and regional provider, payer, and patient systems. A supplemental process of incorporating regulation protocol with the active engagement of providers in diagnostic and procedural delivery will render open channels of communication that will facilitate the overall process. As the healthcare industry advances in active monitoring, assessment, and upgrading of regulatory policies and procedures, included in this paradigm should be the integration of many constituents of regulation. This ranges from patient demographics to the specifications of diagnoses and treatment, including setting, accessibility, and duration.
